Global Health Alert as Officials Track MV Hondius Passengers After Suspected Virus Spread
According to sources, the present outbreak of the hantavirus was caused by the MV Hondius cruise ship, which has been connected with the Andes strain. This is because the passengers of the MV Hondius had gone to places in South America, where they were exposed to the hantavirus-infected rodents. At present, five people have been infected by the disease, while another three succumbed to the virus infection. WHO has assured the people that there is nothing to worry about since the virus infection cannot spread via the air and requires human-to-human contact with hantavirus-infected rodents. The health officials in 12 nations, including those in the UK, US, and other European nations, are now in an urgent hunt for more than 50 passengers who left the ship in different ports before knowing about the disease, including St. Helena.
